Quality Care for Every Stage of Life – Close to Home

Hi-Desert Medical Center

Hi-Desert Medical Center has been caring for residents in the Morongo Basin for over 40 years. Serving a population of more than 68,000, Hi-Desert is the primary health provider in this expansive, mostly rural high-desert community and offers:

  • A 59-bed acute care hospital
  • Wide range of quality diagnostic, treatment and rehabilitation services
  • Home health
  • Hospice services
  • Community outreach programs to improve the health and well-being of residents throughout the region
As part of Desert Care Network, Hi-Desert is able to provide residents:
  • Easier access to award-winning specialty care at sister facilities in the Coachella Valley
  • Specialist physicians and services – including cardiovascular and gastrointestinal care – at its Joshua Tree campus
“Hi-Desert Medical Center has a proud history of offering local families quality care for every stage of life – from maternity services to hospice care – close to home,” said Karen Faulis, Hi-Desert’s CEO. “As part of Desert Care Network, our patients can now more easily receive a higher level of care from our network partners when they need it and still return to our campus post-discharge for continuing care, outpatient rehabilitation or home health services right here in their own community.”

Cardiovascular Services at Hi-Desert

Maternity roomGholam Zadeii, M.D., a cardiologist and member of the hospital’s governing board, has helped return cardiovascular services to the Hi-Desert campus. “Patients do not have to travel far for the services they need,” Dr. Zadeii said. “We also provide treatment and prevention programs for those at risk from atrial fibrillation (irregular heartbeat). And because we are seeing increases in obesity, diabetes and sleep apnea in our area, we have established a prevention program that includes education and treatment aimed at improving heart health in the community.”

Community lectures also teach residents how to regain a healthy lifestyle. “Our approach is individualized to fit each person’s specific needs, lifestyle and career,” Dr. Zadeii added. “For example, if a patient needs to improve cardiovascular health by becoming more active, we don’t just tell them to ride a bike, we work with them to pick the right bike.”
