What
started as the historic El Mirador Hotel has now become the epicenter of health
and wellness for the Coachella Valley. In 1948, the founders of Desert Healthcare
District & Desert Regional Medical Center envisioned a new hospital for
Palm Springs and the surrounding region. Now, 75 years later, the district and
the hospital, have built a community of care that reaches from the foothills of
Mount San Jacinto to the shores of the Salton Sea and beyond. We advance
community wellness, provide primary care, specialty care and some of the
highest-level emergency services right here at home.
Beginning
in 1997, the District chose to lease the hospital to Tenet Healthcare -- turning
its energy toward advancing community wellness for our Valley residents. Now, our
region has both a successful hospital and a powerful promoter of public health.
Together,
we have you covered, whether it’s providing COVID vaccines during a pandemic,
or the highest level of trauma care for accidents and injuries. From swimming
lessons to neurosurgery, from promotoras to
home health therapists—from family medicine to fighting food insecurity, we are
