Having lived and worked in the desert since the late 1990s, he was familiar with Desert Regional Medical Center's reputation for advanced emergency care. He never imagined he would one day depend on that expertise to save his own life.

After returning home from the gym one evening, he went about his normal routine. Then, without warning, he began feeling unwell.

"I started feeling a little cold and clammy," he recalled. "Then I began feeling more tightness in my chest."

Recognizing that something wasn't right, he sought emergency medical care. It was a decision that would prove lifesaving.

Despite living an active lifestyle, tests revealed a serious and potentially fatal condition.

"Two of my arteries were more than 90% blocked," he said.

The diagnosis came as a shock. He exercised six days a week, maintained healthy cholesterol levels, and didn't smoke or drink alcohol. There had been no obvious warning signs.

"That's a scary time, especially when you know there were no signs," he said.

His experience underscores an important reality: heart disease can affect anyone. While maintaining a healthy lifestyle is important, factors such as family history and genetics can also play a significant role in cardiovascular health.
