December 12, 2025 - Indio, CA - JFK Memorial Hospital is proud to announce the certification and launch of its newly upgraded GE Artist 1.5T MRI Unit. This significant upgrade provides enhanced imaging quality, faster scan times, and a more comfortable patient experience at JFK Memorial.

This $7.4 million investment reflects JFK’s and Tenet Healthcare’s commitment to providing advanced diagnostic services for Indio and the surrounding communities.

“This new MRI is more efficient, allowing us to scan patients more quickly and with greater precision than ever before,” said Mak Danhounsrou, Associate Administrator for JFK Memorial Hospital. 

Improved Efficiency, Access, and Patient Experience

The new MRI upgrade brings several key benefits:

• More efficient scans — The new unit shaves 15 minutes off every scan. The impact is substantial when performing 15–20 scans per day, significantly expanding patient access.
• A more comfortable MRI experience due to the scanner’s larger circumference, designed to feel less confining and less intimidating.
• Faster scanning times, reducing patient anxiety associated with long scans inside the tube.
• Easy scheduling and reduced wait times, supported by a dedicated secretary who streamlines the appointment process.
• Improved access for the community, thanks to both the increased scan capacity and JFK’s centrally located campus.

JFK also continues to offer advanced CT imaging through the Siemens Somatom Go. Top CT, known for its power, efficiency, and patient-friendly design.
