Desert Care Network Hospitals to Host Annual Healthy Over Hungry® Cereal Drive from June 8 –18
Three hospitals lead community effort to support FIND Food Bank’s summer feeding programs for school kids
Palm Springs, CA - June 4, 2026 – Desert Care Network hospitals are leading a community effort to provide local children and their families with a healthy breakfast during the summer months when school is out of session. The Healthy Over Hungry® Cereal Drive will benefit FIND Food Bank in Indio and The Way Station in Joshua Tree. The drive kicks off Monday, June 8 and runs through Thursday, June 18.
“At Desert Care Network, we recognize how hunger and poor nutrition can impact children’s health,” said Linda Evans, Chief Strategy Officer for Community Advocacy for Desert Care Network. “A healthy breakfast is important to start the day right, and through this initiative, we aim to support those in our community facing food insecurity. We hope the community will join us by donating cereal or dollars – to help kids stay ‘healthy over hungry’ this summer.”
Summer can be especially challenging in the desert region, where more than 84% of public-school students qualify for free or reduced-price meals — a key national indicator of food insecurity. Donations of healthy cereal to the Healthy Over Hungry® Cereal Drive will be collected from June 8 through June 18 in the main lobbies of Desert Regional Medical Center in Palm Springs, JFK Memorial Hospital in Indio, and Hi-Desert Medical Center in Joshua Tree. Cereal and monetary donations made in communities in the Hi-Desert area will benefit The Way Station, a FIND Food Bank distribution partner in Joshua Tree.

The three hospitals will be competing again this year to earn the Desert Care Network Cereal Drive Trophy. Participants can use one of the following QR codes to donate to an individual hospital’s campaign.
