INDIO, Calif., Dec. 16, 2024 -- Desert Care Network has donated $20,000 to Martha’s Village and Kitchen to recognize the nonprofit organization’s work to combat homelessness and poverty through the Career & Education Center at its Indio-based facility.
“Martha’s Village has been such an incredible resource for our community and Desert Care Network is proud this year to support the Career and Education services that Martha’s provides,” said Linda Evans, Chief Strategy Officer of Community Advocacy at Desert Care Network. “Martha’s is so much more than just overnight shelter. They are dedicated to helping a person in so many ways, including help with job and career education. All these things are connected and important to keeping a person healthy. That’s why we love to support Martha’s Village.”
Martha’s Village recognized Desert Care Network’s donation with the presentation of a plaque that will be displayed at the entrance to the Career & Education Center, a spacious room where clients of Martha’s have access to computers and expert advice. The Center hosts many structured services, including job training workshops, educational support, career counseling and English as a Second Language (ESL) classes.
“We are honored to have the support of Desert Care Network,” said Samuel Hollenbeck, President & CEO of Martha’s Village & Kitchen. “We are proud to work closely with Desert Regional and JFK Memorial Hospital across the Coachella Valley to help meet the needs of the community. We are thankful that our hospitals share our vision of addressing the causes and symptoms of homelessness.”
