30th-Anniversary-Event-700-x-400The comprehensive Cancer Center (CCC) at Desert Regional Medical Center celebrated its 30th anniversary today with numerous events at its Palm Springs campus.

“Today is such a special day for all of us at the Comprehensive Cancer Center at Desert Regional Medical Center,” said Teresa Whipple, Executive Director of the CCC. “Our team of physicians and caregivers at the CCC have been taking care of our community for the last 30 years, and it will be our honor to do so for the next 30 years. We truly are a community built on care.”

Teresa Whipple also welcomed Coachella Valley artists Karen and Tony Barone, as they unveiled and dedicated their donated 8-foot sculpture, “Hope,” to the CCC for all patients and visitors to enjoy as they visit the CCC.

“We are so appreciative of this generous gift from Karen and Tony Barone,” said Teresa Whipple, Executive Director of the Comprehensive Cancer Center. “’Hope’ is the perfect name for this beautiful sculpture, and we want it to give our patients and their families tremendous hope for their future.”

“‘Hope’ the Rabbit is meant to bring smiles and lift the spirits of everyone who lays eyes on her as they enter and depart the Comprehensive Cancer Center,” said Coachella Valley artists Karen and Tony Barone. “HOPE reigns eternal.”

Additional activities included the unveiling of a wall covering depicting the history of the Comprehensive Cancer Center as well as the second annual “ringing of the bell.” This very special ceremony allows any cancer patient, no matter where they received their treatment, to step up and ring the bell to commemorate the end of their treatment. We also encourage long-term survivors to ring the bell to celebrate their continued journey as a survivor.
