PALM SPRINGS, Calif. - March 27, 2019 – Desert Regional Medical Center today completed its main lobby renovation by installing seven dramatic regional photographs by local artist, Dean Mayo.

Highway 74 photographMr. Mayo’s photographic career started in 2005 as a way for him to continue his status as a PGA professional, with his early work focused primarily on golf courses. Mayo’s work evolved to include some of the dramatic landscapes we see all around us today in the Coachella Valley.

“We know coming to the hospital isn’t always the happiest of experiences,” said Judi Atteberry, CFO at Desert Regional Medical Center. “When I saw Dean’s beautiful photographs of the Coachella Valley, I knew they would be calming and comforting to our patients, visitors and employees alike. I am so pleased these beautiful images are hanging at Desert Regional Medical Center.”

One photograph that rings special to the artist is titled Highway 74. With Highway 74 in mind, Mr. Mayo wrote the following for a friend of his when she was diagnosed with cancer, and has since made a full recovery. Mayo wrote, “The road of life is not a straight line and is filled with lots of twists and turns. We never know what is around the corner but it is my wish that the road that has brought you here to this place of healing returns you to good health....continue the journey"

All seven photographs by Mr. Mayo are now on display in the Main Lobby of Desert Regional Medical Center.
