Hi-Desert Medical Center Receives 6 Performance Excellence Awards in Preventing Hospital-Acquired Conditions

Oct 20, 2016

Joshua Tree, CA— Hi-Desert Medical Center has been named a 2016 Performance Excellence Award winner by The Collaborative Alliance for Nursing Outcomes (CALNOC) for its exemplary work in reducing hospital-acquired conditions.

Hi-Desert Medical Center was recognized for its success in six categories: preventing falls, pressure ulcers and three hospital-acquired infections – Catheter-Associated Urinary Tract Infections (CAUTI) in the critical care unit; Central Line-Associated Blood Stream Infections (CLABSI) in the critical care unit and in the hospital as a whole; and Methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA) in the hospital as a whole. CALNOC is the nation’s first registry dedicated to nursing sensitive measures at the unit level. It is a self-sustaining non-profit public benefit corporation with over 15 years’ experience in advancing the safety and quality of patient care.

“This recognition is a strong affirmation not only of the strength and professionalism of our dedicated nursing and medical staff but also of our overall commitment to patient safety and high-quality standards of care,” said Karen Faulis, CEO of Hi-Desert Medical Center. “Reducing and preventing hospital-acquired conditions has been and will continue to be a major focus of our clinical team.”

Hi-Desert Medical Center and other winners of the 2016 Performance Excellence Awards will be honored at CALNOC’s 20th Anniversary Conference during October 23-25 in Monterey, Calif.
