Denise Perez Wins State Award for Nurse Practitioner Excellence at National AANP Conference

PALM SPRINGS, Calif. - July 11, 2018- Desert Regional Medical Center is proud to announce that Denise Perez, MS, RN, FNP-BC is a recipient of the prestigious American Association of Nurse Practitioners (AANP) 2018 State Award for Excellence, honored at an awards ceremony and reception held during the AANP 2018 National Conference June 26-July 1, 2018, in Denver, CO.
The State Award for Nurse Practitioner Excellence, founded in 1991, recognizes a nurse practitioner (NP) in a state who demonstrates excellence in practice. In 1993, the State Award for Nurse Practitioner Advocate was added to recognize the efforts of individuals who have made a significant contribution toward increasing awareness and recognition of NPs.
“It is such an honor to know that Denise has been recognized for her tremendous work here at Desert Regional Medical Center,” said Michele Finney, CEO of the Desert Care Network. “We’ve known for years about the great care Denise provides our patients at Desert Regional Medical Center, and I am so proud that she has been honored and recognized at a national level for her superior work as a nurse practitioner.”
“I am humbled and honored to receive the AANP’s State Award for Nurse Practitioner Excellence,” said Denise Perez. “In my more than 20 years working at Desert Regional Medical Center, I consider this recognition among the highlights of my career. I am passionate about the work I do each day, and one of my long-term goals is to have a clinic that primarily cares for chronic disease cardiac patients to assist with their management.”
Denise began her nursing career at Desert Regional Medical Center in 1998, after graduating from Riverside Community College. Ms. Perez went on to receive her Bachelor of Science and her Mater of Science in Nursing degrees from California State University in Dominguez Hills. In addition to the prestigious AANP award, in 2015 Ms. Perez has received the Ida Cannon award from social services in addition to receiving the Tenet Hero award in 2015.
