Doug’s Hip Replacement Story

May 28, 2019

When Doug Green was told he needed a hip replacement, he wasn't surprised. "My hip was really bothering me," he said. But being Canadian, he was surprised by the options presented to him in Canada: a process that could take 3 to 4 months just for a consultation, and another 6 to 12 months for the surgery.

While visiting Palm Springs, he heard about another option: a new technique with a shorter hospital stay that was available immediately. So he chose Desert Regional Medical Center. After a short procedure, Doug was in the hospital overnight and out the door the next day.

In just two days he was walking without any assistance—not even a walker. "I'm not even a month into it and I can't still believe it," he said. "I mean, I'm living proof that you can walk around right after the surgery.
